Siuslaw Valley Bank was chartered for the purpose of fulfilling the need for banking services in the small rural town of Mapleton, Oregon, located in Western Lane County. At the time the Bank commenced doing business on January 17, 1964, there were seven lumber and plywood manufacturing plants located on the banks of the Siuslaw River, which kept the local economy robust.
